In recent years, due to their convenience and performance, integrated materials primarily made from polyacrylate-based polymer resins have been widely adopted as lubricants for use in tunneling and caisson construction methods.
However, these materials are known to react sensitively to seawater contained in groundwater or to metal ions (such as iron), which significantly reduces the viscosity of the lubricant.
Conventional countermeasures have involved increasing the amount of additives beyond the standard formulation to compensate for the decrease in viscosity of the lubricant, or using natural polymer-based materials as auxiliary agents to temporarily increase viscosity. However, the effects of all of these methods were transient, and it was not possible to maintain viscosity over a long period of time.
Therefore, to solve these problems, we developed the salt-resistant lubricant Smooth Ace SW.
